Summary
Allows users in OpenSimulator to link their avatar to their account on a Moodle site. (This process is also known as “avatar authentication” or “avatar registration”. See Registration and Enrolment for more information). From SLOODLE 0.4 onwards, this will also enroll the user on the appropriate Moodle course, if they are not already enrolled.
Compatibility
The Registration Booth is a sub-component of the Sloodle Set, so please check the Sloodle Set Compatibility information.
Setup
Automatic Configuration
The Registration Booth is distributed as part of the Sloodle Set. It is recommended that you use the official Sloodle.org Object Distributor to obtain an appropriate Set for your Sloodle version. Rez and configure the Sloodle Set, and click on the object vendor box (the tall one in the middle). Select the “Registration Booth” option from the dialog that appears, and a Registration Booth should be rezzed for you.
The Sloodle Set will automatically configure the Registration Booth for you, so it should be ready to use.
Notecard Configuration
If you prefer, you can configure the Registration Booth manually using a notecard. It uses the same format as the ‘sloodle_config‘ notecard for a Sloodle Set, so you can use the Sloodle notecard setup page on your Moodle site to generate one. The text from there should be placed into a notecard called “sloodle_config” in the Registration Booth’s inventory. You may need to reset the scripts before the notecard is detected.
Notecard configuration is useful because:
- it will not lose its configuration when it is reset
- it does not require the use of a Sloodle Set every time
- it can be slightly more secure than automatic configuration
Usage
When the Registration Booth is rezzed, you may use it by clicking the panel which says “Touch to register your avatar in Moodle”. It will check the associated Moodle site to see if your avatar is already registered. If you are fully registered, and your avatar is linked to your Moodle account, then there is nothing else to do. Otherwise, it will create a new entry for your avatar in the Moodle database, then display a URL on the screen. Click the “Go To Page” button to load the URL, and your web-browser should appear, showing the Moodle site.
If you were already logged-in to the Moodle site, then it will automatically detect and link your avatar. Otherwise, you will need to login to the Moodle site (or create an account). When this is finished, your avatar will be linked to your Moodle account, allowing you to use other Sloodle objects for that Moodle site.
